He was kind enough to let me take his picture... I sat next to him to show him the result and also requested him to quit smoking... His face expression changed, and he showered me with blessings for asking him to do that... I wish I had asked his name... and I wish he gets happier !!!

The flower market near Fatehpuri does brisk business everyday between 0300 hrs to 0800 hrs... The prices also keep going down as the sun rises because its important that the entire stock is sold..
Saturdays are when you can see boxes like these all around on the streets dedicated to the Shani Dev...

Goga Singh has been singing at the Jyotisar Temple complex since 2001... He sings at one corner of the pond in the compound and his voice can be heard anywhere in the entire compound with amazing clarity... A wonderful singer and nice person at heart, he sang a few Bhajans when my father requested him too as well..

One of my favorite pictures from the flower market in Old Delhi... One of the two major markets in Delhi... The other one is a daily affair near the Coffee House, CP, New Delh
Delhi has a number of flower markets which you can go to early mornings.. One of these is the market that is of loose flowers and starts around 0300 hrs every morning near Fatehpuri Masjid/ Khari Baoli area...
Most of these flowers are used for decoration in Marriages and other functions...

2. Shiv Mishthan Bhandar
Both these places are near the Fatehpuri Masjid...
My take : Mahalakshmi serves better Sabzi and Shiv Mishthan Bhandar has better Puri.. Try both... and keep some space in your tummy for more...

This is a boy not more than 15 years old who works in a Brass Moulding Workshop in Moradabad, which is a key city in India for Brass works. A lot of kids like him and more spend most of their childhood working in such workshops. The fire like thing that you see here is the molten brass from the furnace. A lot these people do not live beyond 40 years of age because of the way their body rots from inside.
An initiative of ASK (Askindia.org), Sankalp, has been working on providing normal childhood to children in Moradabad for a long time and I must say, from my first hand experience of staying in the Sankalp Center, that they have done a remarkable job... Today there is one major school and 5 Satellite centers that have more than 500 kids studying in them. There is a long way to go though...
