Now that one has a website, and one starts posting things, uploading pictures, writing articles, reviewing movies, telling the world about his/her daily life... what next... when you have multiple instances of a similar thing happening, there is bound to be a rating system which helps one differentiate the importance of one page over the other... Googles sets standards in how important a webpage or website is by giving it a page rank... It runs a very complex algoritm, but more or less it works on two things...

1- How many pages with good page ranks link to you?
2- How high up on the search results are you?
